Hood River, Oregon
Hood River, Oregon is one of those places that feels like a hidden gem, even though plenty of people know how special it is. Sitting right along the Columbia River, it’s a playground for anyone who loves being outside. Windsurfers and kiteboarders flock there for the epic river winds, and hikers have endless trails to explore in the surrounding forests and up on Mount Hood. The town itself is super cute, packed with cozy coffee shops, local breweries, and restaurants serving up fresh, local food. Plus, the views everywhere you look — river, mountains, orchards — are just insane. What really makes Hood River stand out, though, is the vibe. It’s got this easygoing, outdoorsy energy that makes you want to grab a bike, a paddleboard, or just a cold cider and hang out. In the summer and fall, you can drive the "Fruit Loop," picking apples, cherries, and pears straight from the orchards. There are festivals, art shows, and live music all the time, but it never feels crowded or touristy. It’s the perfect mix of adventure and chill — a spot where you can work up a sweat outside and then kick back with a craft beer while watching the sunset over the Gorge.
